Feels Like Home: Medina Grillo

We caught up with Medina Grillo, Interiors and DIY blogger to chat about her home style, favourite DIY and how to express yourself through interior design.

---

What rituals or routines make you feel at home ?

I usually start my day with a  frothy coffee, and a toast with avocado. Yes, I’m one of those people who likes to swap butter for avocado on toast ha!

How would you describe your interiors style?

I can’t define It in one style as I feel like its a mash up of various style and things I love. I like to refer to it as a neutral monochrome home, with pops of yellow and funky patterns. Somewhere between minimalist and maximalist.

A bedside table can often say a lot about a person! What’s on your bedside table?

A bottle of water, my phone (which functions as an alarm), at least two reading books, and a small dish for my glasses to rest on at the end of the night.

What's your favourite spot in your home?

To be honest, I feel like this changes every other month now I’m spending so much time at home. I think right now, I’m really enjoying my bedroom. Unlike the other rooms in my home, its very neutral and paired back with regards to pattern and colour use. Its a great space to relax

Your home and styling exudes such joy - do you have any tips for expressing yourself/ setting a mood in your home?

Biggest tip is to decorate with colours or accessories that bring you joy whenever your eyes rest on them. Display home décor items that you love and tell a story. Try not to fall into the habit of buying things that you’d much prefer to have locked away out of sight.

What has been your favourite DIY that you have shared?

I really enjoyed making this candle stick holder. It was so easy to build and has such a lovely impact wherever it is placed https://grillo-designs.com/checkered-diy-candlestick-holder/

How do you like to relax when you’re at home?

Reading and lighting a candle  is my biggest form of relation.
